When will I receive my refund?
Refund timelines depend on why the refund is being issued and how quickly your bank or card issuer processes the return. Here is what to expect in each scenario.
Refunds for cancelled bookings
When you cancel a booking that qualifies for a full or partial refund under the rate's cancellation policy:
- ReserveTheNight initiates the refund within 1–3 business days of your cancellation being confirmed.
- Your card issuer then processes the return - this typically takes a further 5–10 business days.
- The refund will appear on the same card used for the original payment.
Total time from cancellation to refund appearing on your statement: allow up to 10 business days from the date of cancellation confirmation.
Refunds for failed bookings
If your booking could not be confirmed by the hotel, ReserveTheNight releases the authorization hold immediately. No money ever left your account - what you saw on your statement was a hold, not a completed charge.
Authorization holds typically clear from your statement within 5–7 business days, depending on your card issuer. ReserveTheNight cannot speed up this process once the hold has been released - the clearing time is controlled entirely by your bank.
Debit cards vs. credit cards
Debit card refunds and hold releases can sometimes take slightly longer than credit cards. If you paid with a debit card, allow the full 10 business days before contacting support.
The refund goes to the original payment method only
Refunds are always returned to the card used at the time of booking. If that card has since been cancelled or replaced, your card issuer will generally route the refund to your replacement card on the same account. Contact your bank if you are unsure.
If 10 business days have passed with no refund
If more than 10 business days have passed since your cancellation was confirmed and no refund has appeared, contact ReserveTheNight support via the contact form with:
- Your booking reference number
- The date your cancellation was confirmed
- The last four digits of the card you used
