Can I book a room for a guest with a different name?
You can absolutely book a hotel room for someone else. ReserveTheNight supports this through the guest name field at checkout.
How to book for a different guest
During checkout, you will see a guest name field where you enter the name of the person who will be checking in to the hotel. Enter the primary guest's full name - the name the hotel will use to register the reservation and welcome the guest at check-in.
The cardholder name and the guest name do not need to match. You can pay with your own card and enter a different person's name as the guest.
At check-in
The hotel will have the reservation filed under the guest name you entered at checkout. Make sure the person checking in knows the name the reservation is under, and that they bring valid identification if required by the hotel (this is common practice for most hotels regardless of who booked).
Managing the booking
If the booking is made through your ReserveTheNight account, you remain the booking holder - only you can view, access, or cancel the booking through the platform. If you want the other person to be able to manage the booking themselves, you would need to either:
- Share your booking confirmation details with them so they can contact the hotel directly, or
- If booking as a guest checkout, use their email address so they receive the guest access link
Payments and refunds
Since payment is made by your account or card, any refund from a cancellation will be returned to the original payment method you used - not to the guest's payment method.
